The Reticulated Python is one of the world’s longest snakes and an exceptionally active, powerful and intelligent constrictor. Although captive-bred individuals can become accustomed to routine husbandry, their size, strength, feeding response and substantial housing requirements make them suitable only for experienced keepers.

Adult size varies enormously between mainland animals and different island locality lineages, so housing and management must be based on the individual snake rather than the name “Reticulated Python” alone.
